HOW WILL MY JEWELRY BE PACKAGED?
Our packaging is made locally and supports a group of local Fijian women.
Every jewel comes with our locally sewn and screen-printed calico cotton and mesh gift carry bag.
EACH GIFT BAG CONTAINS
- VAU ROSETTE tied to the handle. Our vau rosettes are made from vau or beach hibiscus plant bark which is stripped, soaked, pounded, colour dyed and finally crafted one by one into rosettes. Rosettes are traditionally used in Fijian Salusalu garlands.
- MASI POUCH. Our masi pouches are soft and protect and contain your jewelry. These are also made by our group of Fijian women. To make masi, the inner bark of the paper mulberry tree is soaked in water in strips until soft. The strips are then beaten with a wooden paddle, which spreads the fibres apart to create a natural cloth-like material.
- A postcard with information and contacts for Adorn Pacific Island Jewels.
VOIVOI WOVEN GIFT BOX LINED WITH MASI
Along with our gift bag and Masi pouch, you will also receive a Voivoi woven gift box, our top tier of packaging. Our gift boxes are perfectly woven and lined with soft Masi supporting a group of local women.
Our gift boxes are made by Fijian women using natural Voivoi. Voivoi is made by cutting the leaves off the Voivoi or Pandanus plant, stripping off the thorns and sunning them out to dry. You will often pass villages in Fiji with gardens full of laid out Voivoi to dry. Once dry, the leaves are scraped with mussel shells repeatedly until smooth. The leaves are then rolled up and boiled and dried again. This Voivoi is used to expertly weave our boxes.
The boxes are finished with an Adorn Pacific tag and lined in Masi. To make Masi, the inner bark of the paper Mulberry tree is soaked in water in strips until soft. The strips are then beaten with a wooden paddle which spreads the fibres apart to create a natural cloth like material.
These gift boxes are a treasure to keep in themselves.
