Things to do in Pacific Harbour

The Adorn workshop is located in my hometown of Pacific Harbour, Fiji. Here I will give you first hand knowledge of "things to do in Pacific Harbour." - a gorgeous little town/community of 2000 people living on the Qaraniqio river, amongst an 18 hole Golf Course and nestled between the beach and rain forest.

Pacific Harbour is known as ‘Fiji’s Adventure Capital’ and offers a variety of activities for all ages on land and on the water. Enjoy one of Fiji's longest white sandy beaches, rain forest walks, waterfalls and support and shop local!

Many of Pacific Harbour's resorts and accommodation offer spa treatments, fun in-house activities, fishing trips, island trips, village visits, Suva (Fiji's capital) day trips and local market tours during your stay. There unfortunately isn't a central place to book all activities - ask at your accommodation or feel free to reach out to us here at Adorn for more guidance, we are happy to help!

ARTS VILLAGE - SHOPPING CENTER

A local open air shopping center and the heart of the community since the late 70's early 80's! Just gorgeous for a slow walk through..  if you have any questions about the history.. stop by my workshop for a chat! I love talking about my hometown!

*Do note that the Arts Village has recently had an extensive makeover and more retail spaces are empty than occupied. Adorn is an online store and a destination store and we have been operating from our space for  7 years without any other retailers around us- however dont let this put you off - its still a great visit!

Besides Adorn, you will find Lighthouse Boutique a souvenir shop - read more here, The Hot bread Kitchen (well known Fiji bakery) read more here, Skinny Bean cafe (coffee, smoothies and food) - read more here, a real estate office - read more here, a local tailor, Dream on Fiji (Bali dresses and homes wares), Starlite cafe (coffee and small snacks) an ANZ ATM and a Fiji Post Office.

Across the road from the ATM, find Frank who sells fresh bu (green coconut) and across the road from the Post Office find a small market stall selling fresh fruit and veg. Opposite Uprising Resort find a delicious shave ice stand open any afternoon that the sun is out!

There is a bus stop and a taxi stand at the Arts Village.

Next door to the arts Village is a Pacific Mobil service station (locally owned and operated) where you will find Indulge (an air conditioned cafe and bottle shop - read more here). The Terratrek waterfall self drive tours (read more below) depart from this service station. The turn off to Namosi is halfway between Pacific Harbour and Suva. Its another world of cool, lush green rainforest. On really hot days this is where you will find us on the weekend! There are many rivers and waterfalls to explore and swim. I recommend the below for authentic experiences.

Contact Namosi Eco Retreat www.namosieco.com

Contact Dakuinaroba Bamboo Park on facebook located next to The Eco retreat.

NAVUA TOWN

For a super local experience catch a taxi to Navua for about FJ$15 to $18 or a bus for under FJ$4, 15 mins up the road to the east (towards Suva). There are bus tops outside each hotel and also outside the Arts VIllage on the main highway. Navua is a bustling, dusty local town the runs alongside the Navua river. There is a fruit and vegie market worth visting if you would like to see what is in season or chat to local. Other than that there are small stands at the bus stop selling local snacks, hardware stores, supermarkets, tailors, variety stores, used clothing stores and a post office.

SUVA CITY

The capital of Fiji and an hours drive to the east from Pacific Harbour. A busy Industrial commercial shipping harbour city with a mix of colonial-era and modern architecture. I highly recommend Suva's guided walking tour www.walkingtourssuva.com for a non-touristy but highly local and interesting/fun exploration of Suva and its more hidden local treasures and history.

In Suva I also recommend visiting The Fiji Museum www.fijimuseum.org.fj for a beautifully curated air conditioned history experience with a gift store and cafe attached. The Museum sits in a botanical garden.
